The 1982 Kong & Halvorsen Island Gypsy is a 51-foot fiberglass motor yacht with proven seagoing design. Built on semi-displacement hull lines, it features the characteristic proportions of the Island Gypsy: wide 16.5-foot beam, walk-around side decks, pilothouse, and enclosed flybridge with hardtop. Twin Volvo TAMD-60B diesel engines with 235 horsepower each and 1,330-gallon fuel capacity give a cruising speed of 9 knots and maximum speed of 12 knots. Naiad Model 201 stabilizers reduce rolling motion. A separate, accessible engine room houses all mechanical and electrical systems.
The layout spans three staterooms and three heads. The master stateroom features a centerline queen berth. Two guest staterooms provide additional sleeping berths. The main salon opens to an updated galley with Anova range, LG refrigerator, Maytag microwave, Frigidaire dishwasher, and Corian countertops with dual stainless sinks. A 55-inch QLED television and Bose soundbar anchor the living space, which receives natural light from large windows. The hardtop flybridge offers a second social area with commanding views and complete electronics access.
The boat carries extensive onboard systems: dual Onan generators (8 kW and 13 kW), an Olympic-60 diesel boiler for hydronic heating throughout, multiple air conditioning units, washer and dryer, central vacuum, three macerator toilets, a Lewmar bow thruster, and a Magnum inverter. Navigation includes Simrad multifunction displays with radar and autopilot, Furuno radar and GPS, multiple VHF radios, and a Peplink router integrated with Starlink and 5G. Safety equipment includes Fireboy Halon fire suppression and an Avon 8-person life raft. Deck gear includes a Lofrans electric windlass, 75-pound CQR anchor with 250 feet of chain, dual spare anchors, and a 10-foot tender with 20-horsepower Honda outboard.
The boat was hauled out in February 2026 for bottom painting, keel repair, and zincs. The engine room saw impeller changes, cooling system flushing and seal replacement, and muffler service. The boiler was serviced with antifreeze replacement in November 2024. Propeller shafts were polished and balanced in August 2020, propellers serviced in June 2024, and the swim platform serviced in February 2026. House and start batteries were replaced in 2023 and 2024. A hot water heater was installed in August 2025, and a battery charger was replaced the same month. The last marine survey was completed in February 2026.
