The Stevens 47 is a Sparkman & Stephens design, a fiberglass bluewater cruiser built in 1982 and extensively restored between 2016 and 2018. At 47 feet with a 13.25-foot beam, she combines the pedigree of her designers with modern systems and equipment. Power comes from a Beta Marine 75 hp diesel engine fitted during the major refit, paired with a Northern Lights 5kW generator. The hull and decks were professionally repainted in Awlgrip, all deck hardware removed and rebedded, and a new toe rail installed. Recent work through 2025 includes replacement of all thru-hulls with Groco bronze fittings, new shaft packing, cutlass bearing, and bottom paint, along with a rebuilt Series 7 hydraulic backstay tensioner.
The interior layout centers on an aft owner's cabin with a centerline queen berth, accompanied by additional berths forward. A professional galley features Corian countertops and a large sink. The aft head includes an electric Lavac toilet. Interior flooring was replaced and the aft cabin refinished with new varnish. All AC and DC wiring throughout was professionally replaced during the refit. Navigation equipment includes a B&G Zeus 3 system, radar, wind instruments, and Simrad autopilot.
Power and water systems reflect serious cruising priorities. A 1000W solar array feeds an 800Ah lithium battery bank managed by Victron MPPT charge controllers and a 3000W pure sine wave inverter. A rebuilt RO watermaker supports extended passages. New main and water tanks were installed during the major refit. Deck gear includes a Maxwell 3500 windlass, Edson pedestal, Lewmar electric winch, and Max-Prop four-blade propeller on a Technodyne transmission.
The boat served as a full-time liveaboard from 2019 to 2020. Known cosmetic issues include hull scratches from a previous docking incident that were professionally repaired, minor historical water damage at forward berth bulkheads from a leaking stanchion base (leak source repaired), and minor water damage below the chart table. A forward head shower basin previously leaked and has been repaired and resealed. These items do not affect structural integrity or cruising capability.
