The 1983 Bertram 28 Flybridge Cruiser is a classic sportfish design built on a fiberglass hull 28 feet long with an 11-foot beam. Twin Mercruiser gasoline engines deliver 600 horsepower total. The wide beam and practical layout make this boat equally suited to offshore fishing or extended cruising, with the seaworthiness and styling that have made this model a perennial favorite among owners.
The cabin accommodates overnight cruising with a large bow berth fitted with new cushions and Bertram bedding, a head to port with sink and vanity, and a galley to starboard featuring a folding table, dual basin sink, generous counter space, and a newly installed refrigerator. The salon includes air conditioning, a flatscreen television on a swivel mount, mini refrigerator, and electric outlets throughout. The flybridge and cockpit provide ample space for fishing or socializing, with bench seating, bolster pads, and a Bimini top for weather protection.
A substantial refit was completed in 2024 and 2025. The engines were pulled and received new forward bulkhead structure, engine stringers, motor mounting brackets, alignment, mechanical seals, and new sea cocks. Both powerplants had new plugs, wires, distributors, and hoses installed, along with fresh raw water impellers. The rudder system was completely rebuilt with new supports, bearings, stuffing box, packing, and oversized rudders. A new exhaust manifold and risers were fitted. The hull was stripped to gelcoat and repainted with five coats of two-part epoxy followed by new bottom paint.
Additional upgrades include new water heater, galley cushions, bed cushions, aft deck and cabin flooring in vinyl, windshield covers, and a new aft bench. Navigation electronics comprise a Garmin GPS 140s and Mercury SmartCraft system with electronic shifter.
