The CS 36 Traditional is a proven racer-cruiser design from 1983, built on a solid fiberglass hull 36 feet long with an 11-foot-6-inch beam. Powered by a 33-horsepower Westerbeke diesel engine, the yacht combines good sailing performance with comfortable accommodations for extended cruising. The layout includes a well-appointed interior and a roomy cockpit, with one head aboard.
This boat has been sailed exclusively in fresh water on the Great Lakes. Recent years have brought substantial investment in systems and rigging: the engine was comprehensively rebuilt in 2023 with new pistons, injectors, glow plugs, a machined head, and factory-specification parts. The Westerbeke received regular maintenance with oil changes twice yearly. New running rigging has been installed since 2023, and the lower shrouds were replaced the same year. Stainless steel stanchions and lifelines are new as of 2023.
Upgrades to sails and canvas include new Evolution sails from 2017, with the main and genoa restitched in 2024, a UV strip added to the genoa, and a new ATN asymmetric sock system installed in 2024. The stack pack was resewn in 2024. Navigation and communication equipment includes a new VHF radio with remote microphone control added in 2023. A new diesel fuel separator and new rudder positioning sensor were fitted in 2024. Refrigeration has been renewed, interior and exterior lighting converted to LED, and a manual porcelain head installed in 2024. A folding propeller was added in 2017 with the original fixed prop kept as a spare. The keel joint has been checked and faired, with keel nuts replaced and torqued to specification.
