The Nordic 44 is a 1983 offshore cruiser designed by Robert H. Perry, built with a fiberglass hull and engineered for both strong sailing performance and seakeeping ability. The hull features moderate overhangs, a powerful sail plan, and a deep fin keel that delivers excellent windward performance, paired with a skeg-hung rudder for reliable tracking. The deck is exceptionally finished with molded dorade boxes, recessed non-skid, integrated genoa tracks, and raised hardware mounting pads that reflect careful design and execution.
Below deck, the interior showcases solid teak joinery throughout with no structural fiberglass liners, contributing to strength and durability. The boat is powered by a single 50-horsepower Universal diesel engine with a cruising speed of 7 knots. Two heads are fitted for crew comfort.
Recent upgrades and installations enhance the boat's cruising capability. A Hurricane Zephyr HW hydronic diesel heating system and Frigoboat keel-cooled refrigeration were added in 2025. Navigation is handled by a Garmin chartplotter installed in 2020 and Garmin sailing instruments, with a Raymarine autopilot for passage work. A substantial windlass with heavy-duty chain, Iversen dodger and bimini (bimini renewed in 2021), and dinghy davits complete the cruising setup. Additional recent updates include a new tender in 2024, custom V-berth mattress and sheets in 2024, a Mack Sails stack pack installed by Puget Sound Rigging in 2023, rebuilt hydraulics for boom vang and backstay in 2022, and new main salon cushions in 2020.
