1983 Tayana Tayana 37

The Dayana is a 1983 Tayana 37 cutter-rigged sailing yacht built in Taiwan with an aft cabin layout. Designed for offshore cruising, she carries a 30-horsepower Yamment diesel engine with fresh water cooling, new fuel lines, a new exhaust system installed in 2020, and recently updated injectors as of 2025.

Her rigging and sail inventory are comprehensive. Standing rigging was fully replaced in 2010 with Norsman terminals and updated chain plates. The sail plan includes a full batten mainsail with three reef points, a 150% drifter jib, yankee jib, inner forestay jib, and 115% heavy working genoa. Self-tailing winches from Anderson and Haaken roller furling with updated fairleads and cam cleats support the rig. Ground tackle consists of three anchors—Delta, Bruce, and Fortress—along with a Muir Cougar windlass and 320 feet of chain.

Systems throughout are well-equipped. Electrical power includes 30-amp service and a new Xantrex Freedom 2000 inverter. Navigation and monitoring rely on Raymarine electronics: a C80 chartplotter with updated software and spare unit, ST60 wind and depth instruments, Raystar GPS transceiver, autopilot controls, fluxgate compass, and 16-mile analog radar. A Standard Horizon VHF with AIS and cockpit remote provides communication. Fresh water is heated by a five-gallon water heater, and a Dickinson diesel fireplace provides cabin heating. The galley features a Force 10 propane stove with oven and grill, and a NovaKool refrigerator with compressor and ice box. Deck equipment includes a full cockpit enclosure, solar panels totaling 260 watts with blue sky MPPT controller, arch and davit system, and outboard engine hoist.

Recent service and upgrades include new engine mounts installed in 2010, PSS extended-life mounts, a new start battery in 2022, renewed PSS stuffing box bellows in 2023, and updated Raymarine depth and wind senders. The hull is fiberglass, and the decks are also fiberglass.
