The Beneteau First 42 is a classic cruising sailboat designed by German Frers and built in 1981. At just over 42 feet with a 13-foot beam, the yacht features a proven fin keel and spade rudder setup paired with a 50 hp Perkins diesel auxiliary engine. The rigging employs a double spreader masthead configuration with headstay furling, baby-stay, and robust inline shrouds with rod chainplates built into the hull. Lewmar 55 self-tailing winches manage all control lines from the cockpit.
Below deck, accommodations span two cabins and a spacious salon. The forward master cabin includes an en-suite head; the aft cabin offers additional sleeping space and storage. The salon sleeps 2 to 4 and receives natural light throughout. The galley is fully equipped with stove, oven, and refrigeration. A navigation station, Boston clock and barometer, and comfortable seating complete the interior layout. Two heads serve the accommodation spaces. The yacht carries 100 gallons of freshwater, 50 gallons of fuel capacity, and includes a 6-gallon hot water heater operating on engine or shore power.
Climate and mechanical systems include a Dometic 16k BTU marine air conditioner, a top-loading Danfoss fridge/freezer, and Jabsco toilets. The Perkins engine features new exhaust and cooling components. A Jabsco 3270 water pump supports the cooling system.
Recent work includes a full topsides repaint in Awlgrip, a new VR-77 bottom paint application, and re-gripping of the deck.
