The 1984 Californian LRC is a 34-foot convertible built to proven standards. Californian's reputation for solid construction is evident in this design: at 18,000 pounds displacement, she's substantially heavier than comparable vessels of the era, which translates to a more stable and comfortable ride in typical bay conditions. The LRC was ahead of its time as an early modern semi-planing fast trawler type, delivering both speed and reduced rolling motion in a single package. Twin Crusader 350 gasoline engines produce 700 horsepower combined.
The boat spent its first decades on fresh water, originally home ported on Lake Huron and kept in covered storage for many of those years until 2020. Engine hours are notably low—just under 700 hours on the mains and approximately 200 hours on the 5kW Westerbeke genset, which was installed about seven years ago. The engines have been professionally maintained and regularly run.
Over the past five years, the boat has received substantial attention with reported expenditures exceeding $60,000 on maintenance and upgrades. The overall condition reflects care well beyond her calendar years. The fresh-water history and covered berth protection have contributed to her strong preservation.
