This 1984 Jongert 25DS is a steel-hulled ketch designed by naval architect Doug Peterson and built by the renowned Dutch Jongert shipyard. At nearly 94 feet with a 21-foot beam, she combines classic construction with world-cruising capability. The single Mercedes diesel engine produces 318 horsepower, delivering a cruising speed of 9 knots and a maximum speed of 10.5 knots. Her efficient sail plan and handling systems allow a small crew to manage the yacht with ease.
The deck saloon forms the heart of the yacht, offering panoramic views and housing the steering station and navigation area with comfortable seating protected in any weather. An aft cockpit accommodates eight for dining, with direct water access via an aft platform. The layout flows naturally between three distinct social spaces: the upper deck saloon, a generous lower saloon with dining area and open galley, and the exterior cockpit.
Accommodation spans five cabins and four heads. A full-beam master stateroom sits aft of the deck saloon with private access. Two double guest cabins are positioned amidships, each sleeping three, with separate access from the lower saloon. The crew area forward includes two additional cabins and a crew mess. The engine room is notably spacious and designed for straightforward maintenance, fully equipped with tools and spare parts for extended voyages.
A full refit and upgrade in 2021 was followed by over 14,000 nautical miles of cruising, including two Atlantic crossings. A refinement in May 2023 addressed carpentry, electronics, and paintwork. The yacht's steel construction, meticulous Dutch craftsmanship, and proven systems throughout her design support serious ocean voyaging.
