1984 Sabre 34

This 1984 Sabre 34 is a fiberglass sloop with a shallow draft design well-suited to both racing and cruising. The centerboard raises to four feet of water, dropping to eight feet for improved upwind performance under sail. Power comes from a 27-horsepower Westerbeke diesel engine, with recent work on the cooling system, shaft, and propeller. The boat reaches 6.9 knots at speed and cruises at 6 knots.

The boat has been upgraded for competitive sailing with new winches, adjustable tracks, and additional hardware supporting spinnaker work. A cruising spinnaker, wrap-around cockpit canvas, and Cruisair air conditioner support extended comfort cruising. Navigation systems include a laptop running Nobeltec software integrated with radar, autopilot, and chart plotting.

The hull was stripped to fiberglass and rebuilt with epoxy to strengthen the structure and prevent blistering. The engine has proven reliable through regular operation and maintenance. Recent replacements of the shaft and propeller support continued dependable service.
