1985 Abbott 33

The Abbott 33 is a lightweight fiberglass racer-cruiser built in 1985 by Abbott Boats in Canada. Hull #27 of approximately 40 produced, this design combines a responsive fin keel with spade rudder, fractional sloop rig, and narrow beam to deliver strong upwind performance and quick acceleration. The boat displaces 6,057 pounds with a high ballast ratio of 54 percent, providing excellent stability and stiffness. Measuring 33.3 feet overall with a waterline length of 26.9 feet and 8.2-foot beam, the Abbott 33 is known among sailors for its handling characteristics and classic performance lines.

The boat accommodates five berths with a head that was replaced in 2024 and a new holding tank also installed that year. Navigation and electronics include a Vulcan B&G 9 chart plotter, three multifunction Nexus instrument displays, windspeed and knot meter, and B&G radio with AIS transmit and receive capability plus handheld cockpit unit. An Autohelm handles steering assistance. Deck equipment consists of two primary winches and four decktop winches, all with three winch handles provided, horseshoe buoy, and Lifesling.

The sails are recent: main and both jibs (150 and 110) are molded and new in 2024, along with two spinnakers. Power comes from a 15-horsepower Volva Penta Sail Drive unit installed in 2010 with alternator. A custom trailerable cradle is included. The mainstep was professionally rebuilt, and the hull was painted with Allgrip. New cushions have been fitted to three of the five berths. Ground tackle includes an anchor with chain and 150 feet of line; three bumpers and four docklines complete the outfit.
