1985 Bayliner 3870 Motoryacht

This 38-foot Bayliner 3870 is a fiberglass cruiser built for extended time on the water, with a practical split-level interior and twin rebuilt diesel engines. The boat underwent a comprehensive refit between 2011 and 2014 that included complete rewiring, system updates, and a professional rebuild of both Chrysler Mitsubishi turbo-charged engines, which have run only 86 and 77 hours respectively since completion. Twin rudders, bow and stern thrusters, and trim tabs support handling and maneuvering. The yacht reaches 18 knots at full speed and cruises at 7 knots.

The layout centers on a bright salon with windows on all sides, accommodating eight at a salon table. Two private staterooms sleep six—a forward cabin with centerline island berth and an aft cabin with athwartship queen berth—along with convertible seating in the salon. Two heads service the cabins; the aft head includes a bathtub and shower access. The galley sits conveniently between helm and salon, fitted with a Nova Kool refrigerator, Hillerange stove with oven, Hotpoint microwave, and double sink. Dual helm stations allow command from the enclosed lower helm or the flybridge, which seats eight and includes entertainment stereo.

Power systems include a Westerbeke 8kw genset, dual AC/DC battery banks with multiple chargers, 120-volt and 12-volt electrical panels, and a 600-watt inverter. Climate control comes from two Marine Air reverse-cycle units (the forward unit lacks power). Navigation and communication equipment comprise a Raymarine Axiom chartplotter, VHF radio, and compass at the lower helm. A Muir Cougar anchor windlass with foot control, sprit bow platform, and large transom swim platform complete the working deck. Engine instruments and battery monitoring systems are installed at both helms.
