The Beneteau First 29 is a 29-foot fiberglass sloop with strong racing pedigree and genuine cruising capability. Powered by an 18 hp Volvo diesel, she reaches 7 knots at speed and cruises comfortably at 5 knots. The hull has been meticulously maintained with a hard ablative bottom refined season after season, finished with fresh antifouling paint good through 2026.
The deck has been substantially rebuilt: all hardware rebedded with new stainless backing washers, portlights replaced with lexan, and brightwork refinished throughout. Below, there are no leaks. The electrical system was completely rewired, including the mast, and upgraded with a Victron 1200W inverter, MPPT solar controller, and DC-DC charger backed by modern battery banks and 200W solar panels. Navigation includes a Raymarine multifunction display and radar. The composting head and fresh- and saltwater washdown system replace the original plumbing, and the galley and cabin lights are all LED.
She carries a competitive sail plan: Quantum kevlar and carbon main with two reef dacron cruising mainsail, three headsails on double-track foil, spinnaker, and cruising chute. Recent upgrades include new dyneema check stays, rigging hardware throughout, new halyards, and carefully maintained Harken and Spinlock controls.
Engine maintenance has been thorough—new seacocks, keelbolts, cutlass bearing, OEM mounts, and water pump, with the folding propeller overhauled and rebalanced. A Magma propane grill and custom sunshade complete the equipment list.
