1985 Bristol 38.8

The Bristol 38.8 is a 38-foot fiberglass sailing yacht designed by Ted Hood, known for its thoughtful design and solid construction. This example, Archipelago, is well maintained and equipped. The hull features a keel-centerboard system that adjusts draft from 4.5 feet to 10.3 feet with the board extended, offering flexibility for different sailing conditions.

The interior is configured as an aft cabin version with a V-berth forward. Custom green cushions complement the cabin woodwork, which remains in excellent condition. The design includes a notably spacious head for a boat of this size. A single Universal diesel engine of 44 horsepower provides auxiliary power.

The 38.8 design proved influential enough that later models including the Bristol 3800, Wauquiez Hood 38, and Little Harbor 38 were based on the same hull. The Bristol 38.8 has maintained its standing in the used market due to the quality of its build and a committed owner base.
