This 1985 Custom Explorer is a steel-hulled motor yacht originally built for the Belgian government to conduct hydrographic survey work. At 162 feet with a 31-foot beam, she was engineered for serious offshore capability. Twin Anglo Belgian Corporation engines deliver 1,620 horsepower, enabling a cruising speed of 10.5 knots and a maximum speed of 13 knots.
The yacht accommodates 11 cabins across multiple decks, with five heads. In 2022, she underwent extensive interior modernization in Belgium. All passenger cabins were upgraded with new air-conditioning and furnishings, and six new ensuite bathrooms were added to the passenger area. The crew quarters on the lower deck received additional bathroom facilities, and laundry facilities were installed. Navigation systems were upgraded to current standards, and crew accommodations were enhanced throughout with television service.
The aft deck was reconfigured to provide flexible space for various activities and equipment storage. The yacht carries two original survey launches, a 300-horsepower RIB, two jet skis, a smaller 50-horsepower RIB, a water slide, and an 8-meter by 4-meter aft boarding platform. This array of support craft and tenders suits the boat equally well for exploration or leisure use. The yacht is a purpose-built explorer with proven offshore capability.
