This 1985 custom-built boathouse is a heavy-duty steel structure designed to shelter large yachts while offering flexible space for additional use. The main boatwell measures 26 feet by 116 feet and is accessed through a 28-foot by 30-foot electric roll-up door. The overall structure spans 46 feet by 144 feet and rests on a float constructed with concrete decking over foam. Three underwater steel trusses provide structural support and accommodate up to 7 feet of draft.
The frame is built entirely of steel I-beams, purlins, and girts, with insulated steel siding and roof to manage moisture and temperature. A 22-foot by 40-foot mezzanine sits above the boatwell, accessed by a steel staircase and presently suited for storage. This upper level could be adapted into additional living or workspace.
The float decking and concrete construction are designed for durability and minimal maintenance. The insulated envelope and robust framing allow year-round use and protection from weather exposure. This boathouse was constructed to commercial standards and built to secure vessels of substantial size.
