This 1985 custom-built boathouse is a 144-foot-by-46-foot structure designed to shelter and protect large yachts. The boatwell measures 26 feet by 116 feet and accommodates cruisers and sport yachts. Access is provided by an electric roll-up door measuring 28 feet by 30 feet. The structure was built to commercial-grade standards with an all-steel frame using I-beams, purlins, and girts for heavy-duty support.
The float foundation uses concrete decking laid over foam, designed for durability and low maintenance. Three underwater steel trusses provide additional structural support with a 7-foot draft capacity. The roof and insulated steel siding offer climate control and protection from moisture and weather swings, making the space usable year-round.
A 22-foot-by-40-foot mezzanine level is accessed by steel stairs and functions as additional storage or workspace. The layout offers flexibility for various uses while keeping a yacht secure within the main boatwell. The boathouse is situated on the Multnomah Channel.
