This 1985 DeFever 40 Offshore is a full-displacement trawler built for seaworthy, long-range cruising. The fiberglass hull sits on a full-length keel with hard chine, measuring 43 feet 3 inches in length and 14 feet 6 inches in beam. Twin Perkins diesel inboards deliver 200 horsepower each for a combined 400 hp, running through shaft drive. Fuel capacity reaches 400 gallons, supporting extended passages typical of the design's cruising heritage.
The accommodations center on two cabins and two heads. The aft master stateroom features a walkaround queen bed with night tables, storage, and hanging lockers, served by an ensuite head with basin, electric toilet, and separate shower. Forward sits a V-berth guest cabin with an adjacent head and shower. The main salon houses an L-shaped settee, a U-shaped galley with propane or electric stove, oven, refrigerator, and double stainless steel sink, plus a lower helm station. Wide side decks with non-skid surface run the full length, and a cockpit leads to an aft sundeck furnished with table and four chairs.
Upper deck space includes a fully enclosed flybridge with captain's chair, two settees, helm station, storage, and canvas enclosure. A transom door opens to a widened swim platform fitted with a Seaweed stainless steel dinghy davit system. Interior woodwork throughout is teak. Dual 12-volt and 120-volt electrical systems operate alongside an inverter/charger and 700-amp-hour house battery banks. Navigation includes a Maxwell 3500 windlass with Rocna 25 anchor and rode, VHF radio, and basic original electronics. An 8-kilowatt Westbeke generator is aboard but not currently operational.
