The 1985 Gulfstar 49 is a semi-displacement motor yacht with the profile of a traditional cruiser and the efficient, stable performance of a trawler. Built with a fiberglass hull over balsa coring and a deep keel, this boat was custom designed and built by the original owner. Powered by twin Caterpillar 375 hp diesels, it cruises at 9 knots at 1,500 RPM and reaches a maximum speed of 18 knots. The hull was recently repainted with no soft spots reported on deck.
The layout centers on a full-beam aft master stateroom with an ensuite head and queen berth, plus a forward guest cabin with centerline queen and private head. A separate office with settee sits adjacent to the master suite. The fully enclosed upper aft salon functions as a second living area with wing doors and air conditioning. The galley to port is equipped with a full-size refrigerator, stainless steel sink, garbage disposal, dishwasher, four-burner stove, and microwave. A spacious dining area sits to starboard across from the galley. Teak joinery throughout the interior reflects the custom build quality.
The enclosed bridge sits four steps above the salon and features new Isinglass. Electronics include Raymarine and Garmin systems with radar, autopilot, GPS, depth sounder, speedometer, VHF radio, hailer, trim tabs, and compass. A hardtop flybridge with full enclosure and new Isinglass provides additional outdoor space. The boat has a walk-around deck, walk-in engine room, and a large cockpit at the stern with amidships boarding ladder for easy line handling. Additional features include reverse osmosis water filter, ice maker, surround sound stereo throughout, davit and cradle with lifting crane, and spare propellers and anchor.
