This 1986 Island Gypsy 32 is a fiberglass sedan trawler powered by a Ford Lehman 135-horsepower diesel engine with roughly 3,557 hours. The hull measures 32 feet in length with an 11-foot, 6-inch beam. The boat features teak decking with overlay, a teak-covered flybridge, and teak anchor and swimming platforms. All windows and frames were replaced between 2012 and 2016, except for the front opening salon window. The hull is painted Awlgrip snow white, with a black bootstripe and blue ablative bottom paint. Teak railings have been stripped and treated with Cetol marine finish.
The interior offers comfortable cruising accommodations with parquet sole flooring, Hatteras white vertical surfaces, and teak details throughout. The galley is equipped with a four-burner propane stove and oven, stainless steel sink, and a refrigerator that operates on both 110-volt and 12-volt power. The head features a Raritan marine toilet and hot and cold shower. Fresh water is supplied by a pressure pump to the galley, shower, and head. A 12-gallon hot water heater provides heated water via shore power or engine heat exchange.
Under the current ownership, the boat has received substantial maintenance and upgrades. The engine injectors, heat exchanger, oil cooler, and transmission cooler have all been replaced. The transmission fluid is serviced every 250 to 300 hours, and engine oil is changed every 100 to 150 hours. The PSS shaft seal, steering cables, and all window frames were replaced. The head and plumbing systems were upgraded, and a new 35-gallon waste tank with vent filter was installed. The propane system now uses a modern fiberglass tank in a drained plastic box on the flybridge.
Power and control systems include a Borg Warner Velvet Drive transmission, a bow thruster with joystick controls accessible from both the salon and flybridge, and a full suite of navigation electronics: dual Simrad 9-inch GPS/radar plotters, dual VHF radios, autopilots on both levels, and a Raymarine autopilot. The electrical system comprises four battery banks totaling 630 amp-hours, a Freedom Zantrex 2000-watt inverter/charger, and 30-amp shore power capability. Ground tackle includes an Ideal electric windlass, a CQR 45-pound primary anchor with 180 feet of chain, and a Fortress 35-pound secondary anchor. All flybridge and salon cushions were replaced in 2024.
