Built in 1986, this Kadey-Krogen 42 pilothouse yacht combines fiberglass sandwich construction with proven ocean-cruising design. The hull uses closed-cell PVC foam core that provides buoyancy, insulation, and eliminates water absorption. Powered by a single Ford Lehman 135 hp diesel engine, the yacht cruises at 7 knots and carries a 7.5 kW Westerbeke generator with standalone hydraulic get-home capability. The boat has logged extensive time throughout Alaska's waters, British Columbia's inland passages, and Puget Sound.
The accommodation plan centers on a rare centerline island queen bed in the forward master stateroom, with six large under-bed drawers, vented storage, and dual hanging lockers. The guest stateroom aft features a convertible settee berth and Pullman bunk with desk. The galley is U-shaped with a newer refrigerator-freezer, three-burner propane stove with oven, and deep stainless sink. The main salon opens through teak doors to the back deck, furnished with swivel chairs, full couch, and Dickinson diesel stove. The single head includes a large stall shower with integrated seat and rebuilt vacuum-flush toilet.
The pilothouse offers expansive windows, a wood helm chair, convertible berth, and removable table. The flybridge has dual settees, full engine controls, bow thruster control, and mast-mounted boom controls with two winches. Deck equipment includes a newer Strataglass enclosure on the back deck, 4-person life raft, steadying sail, and kayak rail mounts. An Avalon 11 Hypalon inflatable with Tohatsu outboard is included.
Electronics and systems are comprehensive for extended cruising: Furuno radar, autopilot, satellite compass, and fathometer; Standard Horizon VHF with DSC and AIS; dual battery banks; 100-watt solar panels; ventless washer-dryer; and complete LED lighting throughout. Recent replacements include the bow thruster motor, generator exhaust piping, fresh water pump, battery banks, and chartplotter software updates. Spare parts, charts, manuals, and both Bruce anchors with full rode are aboard.
