The Nauticat 43 is a Finnish-built cruising ketch designed by Sparkmand & Stephens, engineered for serious offshore capability while maintaining comfort for extended voyages. The ketch rig with inner forestay and self-tending staysail breaks sail area into manageable sections, ideal for short-handed sailing. Both headsails are fitted with quality Scheafer furlers. A 90-horsepower Lehman diesel powers the yacht, with a Northern Lights generator (811 hours) providing auxiliary power. The boat features both exterior and interior steering stations—a practical arrangement for year-round cruising in varying conditions.
The interior layout prioritizes spacious, separated living areas with 6 feet 8 inches of headroom throughout. The raised main salon is ringed with large tempered windows providing 270 degrees of visibility and natural light. An interior steering station sits within the salon beside a comfortable table with wrap-around seating. Three staterooms and two heads accommodate family cruising or live-aboard use. The aft owner's stateroom holds a queen berth with an ensuite head and shower. Forward, the v-berth offers generous dimensions, while an additional cabin with over-under single bunks serves as a third stateroom. A second head compartment sits opposite a tall hanging locker.
The galley features a u-shaped layout with dual sinks, three-burner stove with oven, and both a top-loading refrigerator with freezer and a top-loading reefer. A dinette seats six. Multiple opening portlights and overhead hatches throughout ensure ventilation and natural light. Systems include a Spectra watermaker, 400-watt solar array, and a Lectra-San waste sanitation system. The original teak decks have been replaced with composite FlexiTeak.
