The Pearson 33-2 is a coastal cruiser built in 1986 with a solid fiberglass hull and balsa-cored deck. Designed by Bill Shaw, it balances seaworthiness with sensible, durable construction. The sloop rig carries approximately 510 square feet of sail and features a deck-stepped mast with double spreaders. A retractable centerboard allows shallow-water access while improving upwind performance. The deck layout is functional, with wide side decks and all lines led aft to support single- or short-handed sailing.
Below deck, the Pearson offers traditional teak joinery throughout and excellent headroom. The layout includes two cabins and one head. The forward V-berth features a walk-through door, hanging locker with louvered doors, and shelving on both sides. The aft stateroom provides queen-sized sleeping space, a hanging locker, and engine access. The main salon holds opposing settees and a fold-down table. An L-shaped galley on the starboard side is outfitted with a two-burner stove and stainless steel sink. A large refrigerator/freezer tucks beneath the chart table to port, maximizing interior space.
The head includes a molded fiberglass shower pan and vanity, with mirrored, sliding locker doors for storage. The boat runs on a 16 hp Yanmar 2GM20F diesel inboard—a widely supported model with readily available parts. Water systems include plastic tanks with deck fills and hot and cold pressure water; all through-hull fittings use bronze ball valves. Storage compartments are distributed throughout the interior.
