1987 Abbott 33

This 1987 Abbott 33 is a purpose-built PHRF racer with a narrow, efficient hull designed to perform in competitive fleet racing. The boat carries PHRF ratings of 126 Spin and 133 JAM, and has a documented racing record including victories in the 2016 Falcon Cup and Roberts Race, plus multiple club championships. The original off-white hull with black boot stripe and light grey deck are finished in original gelcoat, maintained in excellent condition with a few minor old repairs. The hull received a full barrier coat removal and blistering repair in 2012, followed by Interprotect 2000 and annual VC17 paint maintenance.

The yacht is outfitted with a deck-stepped aluminum mast, Harken Carbo Race head foil upgraded in 2021, and a comprehensive rig featuring replaced Dyform shrouds and headstay from 2010, adjustable running backstays with helm-position controls, and a boom kicker with cascade vang system. Deck hardware includes twin Lewmar winches, Harken traveler and mainsheet systems, Spinlock clutches installed in 2012, and fresh Selden jib track and cars added in 2024. The cockpit offers three storage lockers and accommodates short-handed sailing with controls conveniently led to the helm.

Below deck, a compact teak interior with teak and holly sole features a V-berth forward, opposing settee berths amidships, a quarter berth aft, and a galley with alcohol stove, icebox, and manual pump water system. Navigation and electronics include a Garmin GPS Map 741 chartplotter, Tack Tick wireless wind and performance instruments, and a Richie compass with clinometer. Power comes from a Yanmar 1GM10 diesel with 9.9 horsepower, dripless shaft seal, and a two-blade folding propeller; the engine received a full overhaul in 2012 with updated fuel and seawater systems.

The boat includes multiple racing sails from Ullman and Quantum built between 2013 and 2023, plus a serviceable inventory of older sails. Additional equipment encompasses a steel cradle, canvas winter cover with wooden support frames, and standard cruising gear. The hull and deck show very good overall condition with minor age-appropriate weathering to the non-skid deck.
