1987 Cape Dory 28 Flybridge

The 1987 Cape Dory 28 Flybridge is a classic New England cruiser built on a solid fiberglass hull with a reputation for handling rough water. This boat features the legendary Cape Dory construction paired with comprehensive mechanical and cosmetic updates throughout.

Power comes from a Yanner 4LH-STE turbo diesel with a 1.5" shaft and Globe Drivesaver coupling. Recent work includes a new cutlass bearing, stuffing box hose and packing, alternator, and starter. The fuel system runs dual Racor filters feeding a 120-gallon tank, with dual exhaust mufflers and steering and gauge clusters positioned in both the cabin and flybridge for convenience.

Below deck, the interior has been updated with new upholstery, new Bimini tops for the flybridge and salon, and a front window shade. The layout includes a large V-berth, L-shaped settee, full head with shower, and galley with alcohol stove and ample counter space. A 45-gallon freshwater tank and solar-vented hatch provide essential systems, along with substantial storage throughout.

Electronics include a Garmin 741xs chartplotter with chip and Airmar transducer, dual VHF radios, and Bluetooth speakers in both cabin and flybridge. Electrical upgrades feature new 27-series house batteries, an AGM start battery, 30-amp shore power capability, and a hot water heater. Deck and interior lighting includes reading lights and a spot light.
