1987 Custom Danish 44 Pilothouse

This 1987 Custom Danish 44 Pilothouse is one of only three aluminium sailing yachts built at the Oland Brothers shipyard in Denmark. The aluminum construction delivers structural strength, light weight, and corrosion resistance, while the pilothouse design provides full 360-degree visibility and excellent weather protection. She achieves a cruising speed of 7 knots and a maximum speed of 9 knots with her Yanmar 75 HP diesel engine.

The layout centers on a spacious pilothouse with comfortable watch seating and full navigation and autopilot controls. Below is a generous saloon with an eight-person dining area on the starboard side and a practical galley with ample storage on the port side. The yacht accommodates three cabins forward and aft, with one head and shower compartment. The teak-lined cockpit features a large leather-covered steering wheel, wide side decks with high bulwarks, and a protected design close to the waterline.

Recent work has been extensive and systematic. The hull and deck were completely repainted in September 2025 with redesigned non-slip areas. The aluminium mast, boom, and spinnaker boom were serviced and repainted in August 2025; all standing and running rigging was renewed by Moss Rigging. The rudder was serviced with new bearings and steering cables installed. A newly overhauled 75 HP Yanmar engine with zero operating hours was fitted, along with a new ZF30M gearbox and Max-Prop propeller. The Volvo deep seal and P-bracket cutlass bearings were renewed. Engine systems including electrical, fuel lines, and throttle controls are new. The fuel tank was cleaned and fitted with a new gauge. Interior updates include renewed flooring throughout, new Corian countertops in the galley and head, a renovated head with new holding tank, refreshed aft cabin mattresses, and a new refrigerator unit. The watermaker, boiler, windlass, and generator have all been serviced. Antifouling paint and zinc anodes were renewed in October 2025 before relaunching.
