The 1987 Dehler Optima 101 is a German-built racer-cruiser designed by E.G. Van de Stadt, derived from the successful IOR racing platform that won the DB-2 World Championship. At 33 feet overall with an 11-foot beam, this fiberglass monohull combines responsive sailing performance with practical cruising capability. The fin keel and balanced spade rudder deliver excellent handling, while the fractional sloop rig carries 487 square feet of sail with a reported inventory of two mainsails, two jibs, and a spinnaker—primary sails in excellent condition. A Yanmar 2GM20 diesel engine provides reliable auxiliary power at cruising speeds around 7 knots.
Below deck, the yacht accommodates four to six berths across two cabins plus a saloon, with 6-foot-2-inch headroom throughout. The galley features a propane stove, oven, and refrigeration. A manual Jabsco head serves the single-head arrangement. Water and fuel tankage are modest at 20 and 10 gallons respectively, typical of the efficient design philosophy.
Navigation and sailing gear reflect her offshore heritage: VHF radio, compass, depth, speed, and wind instruments are installed. Harken self-tailing winches and a windward sheeting traveler support efficient sail handling. Wheel steering, a dodger, and cockpit cushions round out the equipped package. Electrical systems include 12/220V capability with shore power and battery charger onboard.
