1987 Gozzard 36

This 1987 Gozzard 36 is a Canadian-built cruising sailboat designed for serious offshore voyaging. The full-keel design, protected rudder, and heavy-displacement hull deliver a comfortable motion in a range of sea conditions with excellent directional stability. At 36 feet with a 12-foot beam, she offers substantial presence and seaworthiness without excess size.

The interior accommodates two cabins with a forward double berth, a saloon with a convertible table that converts to a second double, and an aft single berth positioned as an excellent sea berth. The cabin stands 6'2" in headroom with ample storage and quality woodwork throughout, making the space feel solid rather than confined. The galley and systems are arranged for extended cruising and anchoring; recent upgrades include a new refrigeration compressor and plate installed in 2025, and a watermaker producing over 20 gallons per hour.

Topside, the yacht is configured for short-handed sailing with roller furling sails, a well-protected cockpit, and a conservative sail plan. The mast, standing rigging, and hull-mounted chainplates were replaced in 2015. Ground tackle is substantial: a Rocna primary anchor, rebuilt Lewmar windlass, and ample chain and rode. A Westerbeke 55D diesel engine was installed new in 2015 with approximately 1,200 hours and extensive drivetrain updates. The electrical system includes solar panels, an inverter/charger, Firefly AGM house battery bank, and a Honda generator for independent power.

The boat cruises at 5.5 knots with a maximum speed of 7.5 knots. She represents straightforward, capable design focused on reliability and practical cruising rather than contemporary styling.
