The 1987 Grand Banks 36 Classic is a fiberglass trawler powered by a single Caterpillar 3208 NA diesel engine rated at 210 horsepower, with a Vetus bow thruster for added manoeuvrability. The boat cruises at approximately 7.9 knots and benefits from a 36-foot hull length with a 12-foot beam suitable for extended coastal and offshore passages.
The yacht spent its first 31 years in fresh water storage with heated indoor protection during winter months, resulting in a condition that appears notably better than its age suggests. The flybridge benefits from a polycarbonate windshield installed in 2016. Navigation equipment includes dual Garmin chart plotters at upper and lower stations alongside a Garmin 600 AIS system, all fitted in 2018.
A comprehensive refit programme has modernized the boat throughout. Three CruiseAire air conditioning units were installed in 2015, joined by new canvas that same year. Climate control updates include an AC/DC ICECO freezer on the flybridge (2021) and an AC/DC Norcold refrigerator (2023). Recent mechanical work encompasses a fresh water system pump and strainer guard (2026), new CAT engine water pump and pulley assembly with belt (2024), and a new Vetus exhaust system (2024). The boat received a new propane tank in 2020, new interior Sunbrella curtains throughout in 2022, all new batteries in 2023, and a new toilet in 2021. Safety and monitoring systems were upgraded with new flares, fire extinguishers, CO and high water bilge alarms in 2024. The bottom was sandblasted, barrier coated, and painted in 2025. A Rocna Vulcan anchor was installed in 2018.
