The Moonen 72 is a steel-hulled explorer yacht built in 1987 with a proven ocean-going design. Twin Volvo Penta diesel engines of 228 horsepower each deliver economical cruising around 9 knots, with a range of approximately 1,700 nautical miles at cruising speed. The hull is supported by a comprehensive hydraulic system including a bow thruster, anchor winch with capstans, and a tender crane on the flybridge. An Onan generator provides electrical power, and the boat carries substantial fuel and freshwater capacity across multiple tanks.
The accommodation spans four cabins plus a crew quarters in the aft section. The owner's cabin occupies the full beam amidships and features a 200 by 200 centimetre bed with an ensuite shower and toilet. Forward, a VIP cabin includes a double bed and private facilities. Two guest cabins provide additional berths, and the aft crew space contains a sauna, washing machine, and further sleeping capacity. The main salon is spacious with large windows and opens to the aft deck via sliding doors. The galley is an L-shaped stainless steel design with a four-burner induction cooktop, oven, microwave, dishwasher, and substantial refrigeration.
A comprehensive 2005 refit at Moonen included a complete new aft superstructure with swimming platform, renewed teak decking throughout, modernised galley with Miele appliances, fresh generator and hydraulic systems, updated engine room installations, and a hydraulic folding mast that lowers to 5.9 metres. Navigation equipment includes Raymarine autopilot and plotter, Furuno radar, and VHF radio. The hull was refinished in two-component paint in 2021. Engine hours are recorded at approximately 2,200 on each unit.
