The Norseman 400 is a 40-foot fiberglass sailing yacht built in 1987, designed as a capable bluewater cruiser with a comfortable interior suitable for extended voyaging or live-aboard use. Powered by a 46 hp Westerbeke diesel engine, she cruises at 7 knots and reaches 8 knots at maximum speed. The hull features a molded step transom with swim ladder and boarding handles, and the cockpit is outfitted with high-backed seating and storage access.
Below decks, the layout includes two heads and a separate shower stall, accommodating couples and occasional guests with privacy and comfort. The galley is equipped with DC refrigeration and freezer, a microwave oven, and ample counter space. Interior lighting throughout is LED. A 42-inch flatscreen television with powered antenna is installed for entertainment at the dock.
The sailplan includes a main and jib with Harken roller furling, lazy jacks, and a new mainsail cover for simplified handling. A rigid boom vang and whisker pole (mast-stowed) support performance sailing. Navigation and seamanship systems comprise Raymarine instruments and autopilot, two stainless steel Destroyer wheels, a Maxwell Nilsson anchor windlass with all-chain rode, and a CQR anchor.
Power and energy systems are robust: four 200 Ah batteries (800 Amps total) backed by a 90 Amp engine alternator and Kubota genset with 90 Amp alternator, a 50 Watt rigid solar panel, Heart 2000 smart charger, and an inverter with AC outlets. Deck protection includes a dodger with Isinglass windows and stainless steel grab rails. Tank level monitors and a Boat Command SMS remote monitor provide resource and vessel oversight. Spare parts and a winter cover are included.
