Built in 1987 by Ben Lexcen for Australia's America's Cup campaign, this 62-foot Stevens 12M is an aluminum-hulled racing yacht with a distinguished competitive history. Originally designed for Perth's challenging conditions, the boat later proved competitive in lighter air and flat water, earning a semi-finalist finish at the 1988 12 Metre World Championships in the Baltic and winning the 2001 Americas Cup Jubilee World Championship in the Solent.
A major refit in 2007 fundamentally transformed the boat. She received a unique tandem keel design—the only 12mR equipped with this configuration—along with a new carbon fiber rudder, spinnaker pole, and boom. The sail plan was enlarged and refined, standing rod rigging was installed throughout, and the cockpit was reconfigured. Harken carbon fiber pedestals and winches were fitted, and hydraulic systems were upgraded to support the new setup.
From 2007 to 2012, the yacht was actively raced in the Mediterranean against other 12 Metre boats, earning recognition as a notably quick competitor. She was extensively tested and sailed alongside Kookaburra 3 with interchangeable crew. Currently based in the Mediterranean and raced with amateur crews, she continues to perform well on the circuit and is regarded as one of the top-performing examples of the 1987-built 12M class.
