The Tashiba 36 is a single-cabin cruising sailboat designed by Bob Perry and built by Ta Shing in 1987. This fiberglass yacht features a hand-laminated hull with internal longitudinal and traverse stringers for structural support, plus a one-piece cast iron ballast. The deck and cabin house are also hand-laminated fiberglass with balsa sandwich construction. At 36 feet long with an 11.67-foot beam, the boat is built for seaworthiness and comfort across extended cruising distances. Power comes from a 44-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine.
The interior showcases satin-varnished teak throughout with quality joinery work typical of Ta Shing's yacht-building standards. The single forward cabin sleeps up to five people total when combined with other cabin and saloon berths. Light floods the interior through thirteen bronze opening portlights with screens and a large butterfly hatch amidships. The galley and head are functional and well-appointed for cruising self-sufficiency.
Recent upgrades reflect thoughtful maintenance and modernization. The boat received a new 60-gallon aluminum fuel tank in 2021, replacing the original cast-iron tank. In 2024, a new cutlass bearing, thru hulls with ball valves, PYI dripless shaft seal, MAX-Prop, and prop shaft were installed during a full haul-out. A new Cutlass bearing, replacement through-hulls with ball valves, PYI dripless shaft seal, new MAX-Prop propeller, and prop shaft were fitted. A fresh Bimini top was completed in 2025. Other recent additions include a Raymarine chartplotter, Lofrans windlass, Dometic reverse-cycle air conditioning and heating, solar panels with house batteries, new lifelines with hard rail sections, davits and dinghy hoist, and updated galley and fresh-water systems.
