The Cabo Rico 38XL is a proven cruising sailboat built in Costa Rica with a solid reputation for seakeeping across varied conditions. Her heavy displacement and cutter rig—carrying genoa, mainsail, and staysail—provide stability and flexible sail management in strong wind. The design has earned respect for both coastal passages and extended ocean voyages, with sister ships having safely completed circumnavigations. She spans 38 feet on deck with an 11-foot 4-inch beam and draws 5 feet with her bulb keel.
The hull is fiberglass cored with end-grain balsa, while the interior features solid teak throughout, including the cabin sole. Below deck, layout includes a forward stateroom with large double berth, a head with shower, a main saloon with multiple seating configurations, an aft galley and navigation station, and a quarter berth to starboard. A Westerbeke diesel of 44 horsepower provides auxiliary power with cruising speeds around 6 knots.
The boat underwent bottom paint and full commissioning in spring 2024 and received a new Raymarine navigation suite the same year. She is ready for immediate use.
