1988 Cape Dory 36 Flybridge Sedan Fast Trawler

This 1988 Cape Dory 36 is a fiberglass downeast-style trawler built for serious cruising. She's powered by twin GM Detroit 8.2 diesel engines rated at 250 horsepower each, with approximately 2,200 hours on the engines. The design delivers a modified-V hull with solid fiberglass construction and a long keel for prop protection. She cruises at 18 knots and reaches 21 knots at top speed. The boat features wide side decks, secure cockpit with transom door and teak coaming boards, and a compact flybridge with forward helm station. Teak trim and handcrafted teak cabinetry define the interior throughout.

Below, the layout holds a forward V-berth cabin with filler cushions and ample storage, a guest stateroom with over-and-under bunks, and a private head compartment with shower. The galley sits amidships in U-shaped configuration with double stainless sinks, Norcold refrigerator/freezer, electric Kenyon stove, microwave, and hot/cold pressurized water. The salon features an L-shaped settee that converts to a berth, teak hi-low table, and large windows. Throughout the boat, teak parquet flooring, opening stainless ports, deck hatches, and cabin windows provide light and ventilation.

Recent significant work includes new turbos and exhaust elbows (2024-2025), new shafts and dripless shaft logs (2023), new fuel tank, new bilge and water system components (2015), new generator coolant system and motor mounts (2021), and new alternators. The electrical system includes a Westerbeke 8kW generator, Xantrex inverter, new galvanic isolator, and batteries replaced in 2024. Twin Cruisair reverse-cycle air conditioners with heating provide climate control. Navigation electronics comprise a Garmin GPSMAP 1040XS with radar, Standard Horizon VHF radios with AIS, and full stereo systems at helm and salon.

The yacht comes equipped with an electric dinghy crane with rebuilt winch motor (2022), a 2010 Achilles HB-280 RIB dinghy with completely rebuilt 9.9 HP Mercury outboard (2025), Simpson Lawrence anchor windlass, 35-pound stainless plow anchor with chain, new teak swim platform and ladder (2015), new bimini enclosure with fresh side panels, and full USCG safety package including fire suppression systems.
