The J/22 is a responsive and stable 22-foot sailing yacht widely recognized for its one-design racing pedigree and accessibility to sailors of all levels. The boat features a deck-stepped, hinged mast for straightforward rigging and can be easily towed without permits. Its 700-pound lead keel provides a low center of gravity, while buoyancy tanks and offshore hatches ensure safety and durability. The design has proven itself over decades—boats from the 1980s continue to compete successfully in J/22 championships.
The cockpit spans 7 feet and accommodates 4 to 6 people with self-bailing capability. Below, a cabin provides two berths, storage, and shelter from the weather. A 4 hp outboard supports auxiliary power.
The yacht is outfitted with newer class sails: a mainsail, working jib, and spinnaker, plus a second complete set. Equipment includes a Harken roller-furling system, Harken traveler, inboard jib tracks, primary and secondary winches, and tiller steering. Navigation and communication gear comprise a Garmin knot meter, depth sounder, and VHF radio. Teak toe rails, hand rails, and coamings run throughout. Two gel batteries power the complete light package.
This boat has been consistently maintained and winter stored indoors. It has operated in fresh water only. A Triad lift-off trailer with jack is included.
