The 1988 Ocean Yachts 48 Super Sport is a 48-foot fiberglass convertible powered by twin Cummins QSC8.3 600-horsepower diesels with ZF286A transmissions. The repower, completed with under 300 hours of running time, included new shafts, couplers, seawater strainers, fuel filters and plumbing, along with electronic shift and throttle controls and digital gauges. The twin engines deliver a cruising speed of 26 knots and a top speed above 32 knots.
The yacht features a large salon that extends forward into a well-equipped galley with a full suite of appliances, including washer and dryer. Two staterooms and two heads provide accommodations for extended cruising. The expansive cockpit and flybridge offer ample seating and entertaining space, with the flybridge recently enclosed and fitted with Flexiteek synthetic teak decking.
Recent upgrades include dual 16-inch Garmin multifunction displays, radar, autopilot, and VHF radio. The helm was fitted with custom panels and all switching was redone during the electronics installation. A Fusion sound system serves the flybridge and cockpit. Navigation and onboard systems are supported by a Victron Multiplus 3000-watt inverter and charger. Air conditioning was upgraded to Dometic Captouch controls, and Oceanair blinds were installed on all salon windows.
The hull, topsides, and brightwork are well maintained. A custom extended fiberglass swim platform with undermount ladder and stainless boarding handles was installed, along with an oversized Muir windlass. All exterior wood has been stripped, refinished, and recoated annually. The boat operates in freshwater only.
