1989 Hunter Legend 37

The 1989 Hunter Legend 37 is a 37-foot fiberglass cruising sailboat powered by a Yammer diesel engine. Built with a 12.8-foot beam, this model offers a low boom and generous sail plan suited for both comfortable weekend cruising and casual racing.

Below deck, the boat features two cabins and one head, with a V-berth forward and aft cabin providing sleeping accommodation for family cruising. The layout delivers practical space for longer passages while maintaining the performance characteristics the design is known for.

Recent major work includes a new electrical system with solar-ready inverter installed in 2023, allowing AC power when away from shore power—uncommon for a boat of this age. New Ullman dacron sails, including a full-batten main and roller-furling jib, were installed in 2025. Standing rigging was replaced in 2018. Maintenance records show regular servicing at KKMI, including bottom paint, engine service, propeller shaft coupling replacement, and new through-hull fittings. Additional updates include a new starter battery and lithium house battery, new navigation light wiring, traveler line and block replacement, head joker valve and waste hose replacement, Corian countertop in the head, new jib sheets, and a new boom vang.
