1989 Litton International 6 Metre
About This Yacht
This 1989 Litton International 6 Metre, named Scoundrel, is a cold-molded mahogany sailing yacht designed by Ian Howlett and built by Paul Litton. She was commissioned in 1989 and has earned a distinguished racing record, including wins at the 1994 European Championship, 1997 World Championship, and 2023 World Championship. The boat is known for its careful craftsmanship and attention to detail in construction.
Scoundrel underwent a comprehensive refit between 2017 and 2018 by Jens Lange and Baltic Boatworks in Bristol, Rhode Island. A new mast was designed by Scott Ferguson, along with a new mast step carriage. The yacht received updated B&G H5000 electronics and instrumentation installed in 2018, with string pots fitted to the rudder, trim tab, and mast step to measure adjustments. A second rudder, also designed by Scott Ferguson, is included.
The yacht carries an extensive sail inventory: a complete suit of North Sails from 2018, a second inventory built in 2019 with one season of use in Sanxenxo in 2022, and the 2023 World Championship-winning inventory with one regatta sailed. Ongoing system refinement and development continued from 2018 through 2023. The boat measures 35 feet in length with a 6.5-foot beam.
