This 1989 Ocean Yachts 55 Super Sport is a fiberglass convertible built for serious offshore work. Twin Detroit Diesel 8V-92 engines producing 1,470 horsepower drive the boat through Capital Gear transmissions. The port engine has been freshly rebuilt with only 85 hours since completion, while the starboard engine shows 2,971 hours. A Westerbeke 15 kW diesel generator provides ship's power. The boat carries 1,000 gallons of fuel and 200 gallons of fresh water, with a displacement of 58,000 pounds and a beam of 16 feet 4 inches.
The cockpit is finished in custom teak with a teak sole and includes a starboard transom door, freezer cabinet to port, tackle storage locker, and large fish box. Outriggers are included. Engine room access is available from the cockpit, and a Danforth windlass with 200 feet of chain rode handles ground tackle.
Below deck, three staterooms and two heads provide accommodation for extended cruising or tournament travel. The salon is spacious with abundant storage, and the full galley includes a stove, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, and trash compactor. Additional amenities include a wet bar, ice maker, refrigerated wine display, L-shaped dinette, washer and dryer, and televisions in all rooms. The air-conditioning system was replaced in 2025, and a new generator back end was installed in June 2024.
The enclosed air-conditioned bridge offers three swivel captain's chairs, forward bench seating, and a bridge refrigerator. Electronics include dual radar, dual depth finders, dual GPS units, compass, SSB radio, VHF radio, autopilot, and intercom. The marine sanitation system features a 55-gallon holding tank with macerator and isolation valves. Five sinks throughout the boat connect to a 120-volt freshwater pump.
