1989 Taswell 43

The Taswell 43 is a center-cockpit cutter designed by Bill Dixon and built by Ta Shing Yard. This 43-foot fiberglass sailing yacht features a masthead cutter rig with a double spreader mast, substantial side and foredeck working areas, and a comprehensive sail plan including mainsail, headsail, staysail, yankee, trysail, passage maker gennaker, asymmetrical spinnaker, and a Code Zero added in 2018. Harken roller furling systems manage both the head and staysail. A Yanmar diesel engine provides auxiliary power.

The interior follows a B-plan layout with a guest cabin forward containing a port-oriented Pullman berth, and a master stateroom aft with a centerline berth. The layout emphasizes privacy and storage, with one head serving both cabins. Navigation and communication systems include dual Garmin GPSMap chart plotters at the cockpit and nav station, Raytheon radar, Raymarine multi-function instruments, SSB and VHF radios, and a Richie Powerdamp compass.

Electrical systems consist of 30-amp shorepower, four PowerSurge 4D house batteries, one Group 27 starting battery, two alternators, and a Magnum Energy inverter-charger with remote monitor. Deck equipment features five Lewmar winches for sail handling, stainless steel dinghy davits, a lifting hoist, and dorade ventilation cowls. Ground tackle includes approximately 220 feet of BBB chain, 75 feet of nylon rode, a Delta plow anchor, and 400 feet of stern tie line on a spool.

Additional equipment comprises a Highfield RIB dinghy with a Nissan 9.8 hp four-stroke outboard, a PYI dripless shaft seal, Max Prop feathering propeller, Espar diesel heating, Cruisair air conditioning and heating, propane BBQ, radar reflector, dodger, bimini, and mainsail cover. The transmission was replaced in 2014.
