1990 Custom Howdy Eidelman Sternwheeler - Jack Sarin

Built in 1990 to a design by naval architect Jack Sarin, this 87-foot sternwheeler is a faithful recreation of the historic riverboats that once worked Oregon's waterways. The fiberglass-hulled boat features the characteristic paddle wheel propulsion system—hydraulically driven wheels that provide forward and backward thrust, complemented by hydraulic bow and stern thrusters for precise maneuvering. Power comes from a single Cummins diesel engine rated at 285 horsepower, delivering a cruising speed of approximately 7.8 knots.

The boat is configured as a passenger and event vessel, with a full galley and bar built into the layout. Four heads serve the 109-passenger capacity, with dedicated dining space for up to 101 guests. The interior accommodates extensive event amenities, including linens, chair coverings, and seasonal decorations. Coast Guard inspection certified.

The boat's condition reflects decades of active use. A marine survey completed in late 2018 valued the hull and structure. The diesel engine, hydraulic systems for wheel and thruster operation, and galley equipment remain functional and in service. The boat has operated continuously as a working vessel throughout its service life.
