The Irwin 54 is a substantial cutter-rigged cruising yacht built for extended bluewater passages and comfortable liveaboard living. Her solid and cored fiberglass hull features a raked bow with platform, shoal-draft fin keel, and skeg-hung rudder. A 140 hp Yammer turbo diesel engine powers the yacht, supported by fuel capacity of 2,080 litres and fresh water capacity of 870 litres for extended range and autonomy. The mainsail furls into the boom, and dual furling systems (Harken on the forestay and Profurl on the staysail) simplify sail handling.
Deck layout emphasizes safety and seamanship. The bow carries dual anchor rollers and an electric windlass. A custom fiberglass hardtop with Strataglass enclosure protects the spacious cockpit, which features built-in bench seating and comprehensive electronics at the helm. An electric bow thruster aids close-quarters maneuvering. Substantial solar capacity includes a 12V two-panel array above the hardtop and a 48V three-panel array aft. Aft deck storage and rail-mounted dinghy davits complete the working areas.
Below decks, accommodation spans four berths across a forward guest V-berth, crew cabin with stacked berths, and an aft master cabin with queen berth and private ensuite. The main saloon features opposing L-shaped settees with a navigation station to port and galley opposite to starboard. The U-shaped galley is comprehensively equipped with dual-drawer refrigerator, separate freezer, three-burner LPG stove with oven, and Corian benchtops. A pantry area houses a microwave, air fryer, combined washer and dryer, and ice maker. The enclosed head includes a separate shower stall; the master ensuite provides both shower and tub.
In 2023, major systems were upgraded: standing rigging was completely replaced, new solar panels and LiFePO4 battery bank installed, 220V inverter added, life raft renewed, and interior appointments refreshed including new refrigerator, upholstery, and washer-dryer unit. Engine hours stand at 7,691. The yacht is equipped with Raymarine electronics, watermaker, fish finder, GPS, and comprehensive ground tackle.
