1990 Island Hopper 30

The 1990 Island Hopper 30 is a single-engine sportfish built on a fiberglass deep-V hull designed for stability and fuel efficiency. Powered by a Cummins 6BT 5.9 diesel producing 315 horsepower, the engine was remanufactured and installed new in 2021 and now carries 2,462 hours. The boat cruises at 14 knots while consuming only 6 to 7 gallons per hour. New fuel tanks were fitted at the same time as the engine replacement.

The 30-foot hull features a 12-foot 4-inch beam, with a deep-V entry forward transitioning to a flat three-degree deadrise aft. Double-wide chines and a self-bailing deck are integrated into the design. Hand-laminated fiberglass construction uses eight to 18 layers of woven roving, built to one to two inches thick on the bottom. Critical areas including the chines, bow, and keel are reinforced with additional glass, and four longitudinal stringers stiffen the bottom. Freeboard measures 58 inches at the bow and 40 inches at the transom, with a draft of 26 inches. The dual 110-gallon fuel tanks support extended range.

The accommodation includes a V-berth and a single head. A custom tower rises above the helm station. The cabin features a JL Audio stereo system and air conditioning. Electronics include a Garmin 9-inch 943XSV display, Simrad GO9, Garmin HD radar, and VHF radio. Recent upholstery was installed throughout in 2023, and isinglass enclosure runs along the rear. A bottom job was recently completed. The boat has been captain-maintained and remains in excellent mechanical condition.
