The J/35 is a proven racing and cruising design that has delivered consistent performance since its 1983 introduction. The hull's pure form—moderate displacement, long waterline, and easily driven shape—combines responsiveness with forgiving handling across a range of conditions. Her straightforward rig and balanced design make her accessible to family crews while maintaining strong performance credentials under both IRC and PHRF rating systems.

The interior offers practical accommodation with 6'3" headroom throughout. The layout includes a teak and holly sole, sleeping for four in the forward cabin and two quarter berths aft, a head positioned between teak bulkheads with a solid teak door to the main salon, and dual settees amidships. The galley spans port and starboard—port side features a sink, counter, and provision for a stove, while starboard provides additional counter space and a top-loading ice box with storage underneath. A bi-fold teak table stows against the bulkhead and can be lowered to expose a magazine rack.

The boat is powered by a 28 horsepower Yanmar diesel inboard with a two-bladed bronze propeller and 20-gallon fuel tank. The rig is a double-spreader masthead configuration with inboard shrouds.
