The Ericson 38 is a Bruce King design built by Pacific Seacraft, known for strong construction and purposeful systems married to a warm teak interior. This performance cruiser drives well to weather, holds its course confidently in building conditions, and rewards good sail trim. The hull and rig geometry carry speed reliably across varying sea states while maintaining real offshore capability.
The accommodation centers on a bright, well-ventilated salon with two private cabins and a full head featuring a separate shower stall. A dinette converts to a bunk, and the nav station includes a chart table with dedicated storage. The galley is L-shaped with ample counter space, dual stainless sinks, and an Adler-Barbour icebox with freezer pocket. A new Force 10 gas burner stove and microwave complete the cooking area.
The sail plan includes a Quantum full-batten mainsail, Quantum 135% roller furling genoa, and a 165% gennaker with sock. Original North sails serve as spares. The rig features a keel-stepped mast, rigid boom vang, and upgraded Profurl roller furler with a telescoping whisker pole. Running rigging leads aft to the cockpit for convenience. A sun cover was added in 2017 by Kingston Sail Loft. The backstay has been recently replaced.
Power comes from a 44-horsepower Volvo Penta diesel inboard with a three-blade Max Prop. Fuel capacity is 55 gallons; water tankage is 110 gallons. Electronics include two Simrad color chartplotters, Furuno 24-mile radar, two VHF radios, an Autohelm AH7000 autopilot with remote, and wind and depth instrumentation. A FireBoy engine compartment fire suppression system is fitted.
