Raw Cotton is a 1995 steel sailing yacht designed by Dennis Ganley and purpose-built for bluewater cruising. Professionally extended in 2002, she carries classic lines and a purposeful profile suited to offshore passagemaking. The yacht is constructed of steel for strength and durability, with a 63-foot length and 14-foot beam providing solid displacement and seakeeping ability.
The boat features a cutter rig with aluminium mast and standing rigging installed in 2015. A 140 hp Ford diesel engine and Northern Lights generator supply auxiliary power, supported by 1200 litres of fuel capacity. Navigation and control systems were upgraded during a major refit between 2018 and 2021, including electric winches, twin Seldén Furlex furling systems, Raymarine Axiom Pro displays, and a new autopilot. Victron power management equipment and renewed battery banks were also installed during this period.
Below decks, the yacht offers two cabins and two heads arranged for comfortable cruising. The forward cabin contains bunks, the master cabin has a queen berth, and saloon seating converts to additional sea berths, accommodating up to six people. An L-shaped galley sits at the companionway for offshore cooking, with a dedicated navigation station and generous tank storage beneath the sole.
The hull was professionally repainted in 2020 in Midnight Blue Awlgrip with extensive teak refurbishment completed at that time. Further teak work was undertaken forward of the dodger in 2023. The boat has cruised extensively throughout New Zealand and the South Pacific, demonstrating her capability across a range of conditions.
