1996 Catalina 400

The Catalina 400 is a 40-foot fiberglass sailing yacht built for both performance and comfort. Her design balances responsive handling with stability, featuring a generous beam that creates an open, bright interior. Powered by a 42-horsepower Westerbeke diesel engine, she carries a freestanding Forespar mast and boom equipped with lazy jacks and optional running backstays, which reduce standing rigging maintenance while enhancing performance. A feathering prop, installed in April 2024, improves efficiency under power.

Below deck, the layout includes two cabins and two heads. The forward cabin features a V-berth with direct head access, while the aft master stateroom offers a centerline king-sized berth. The galley is fitted with a three-burner propane stove and oven, double stainless steel sink, and both top- and front-loading refrigeration. Deck features include twin helms, a walk-through transom leading to a swim platform, a Maxwell 800 electric windlass, full cockpit enclosure, dodger, and bimini top. Sailing hardware comprises a mainsheet traveler, adjustable jib leads, two primary Harken winches, and four secondary winches.

Navigation and electronic systems include a full Raymarine suite with radar, chartplotter, autopilot, and VHF radio, complemented by a Standard Horizon GX2000 radio and Victron energy monitor. A solar power system is included but not permanently mounted. Recent maintenance includes new steering cables and conduit (January 2025), new headstay (March 2023), bottom paint and refrigerant service (April 2024), and mainsail and headsail maintenance (October 2024). A Rocna 20kg anchor was installed in April 2024.
