1996 Hinckley Picnic Boat 36 Classic

The 1996 Hinckley Picnic Boat 36 Classic is a jet-powered express cruiser built with Hinckley's characteristic craftsmanship. The hull combines Kevlar and E-glass with balsa core, constructed using the SCRIMP process with vinylester resin. Powered by a Yanmar 350-hp diesel engine driving a Hamilton water-jet, she reaches 26 knots and cruises at 20 knots. The hull is finished in red Awlgrip topsides with a light cream deck, varnished teak transom, and a laminated teak swim platform with integrated folding ladder.

Extensive teak detailing defines the exterior: the toe rail, cabin eyebrow molding, handrails, and boat hook are all varnished teak. The cockpit features a teak coaming, teak boarding steps, and a full cover added in 2002. A hot and cold freshwater shower is mounted aft. Multiple hatches provide ventilation, and 316L stainless steel fittings include bow chocks, mooring cleats, and custom chafe strips. Custom St. Croix dinghy davits are removable, and the boat carries a Danforth anchor with chain and nylon rode.

Below, the interior is finished in satin-varnished cherry with light cream valences and white overhead, accented with a varnished teak and holly sole. The forward V-berth converts to a double with insert cushions in Navy Doubloon Duet fabric. A cherry-trimmed galley includes an Adler Barbour 12-volt refrigerator, Force 10 two-burner stove, and stainless steel sink with hot and cold pressure water. The head features a Vacu-Flush electric marine toilet, cherry countertop, and pull-out faucet with hand shower.

Navigation electronics include a Raymarine S2G Smart Pilot autopilot, Raytheon 7" color chartplotter with radar, Garmin 276C GPS, and Raytheon 215 VHF with DSC. A 2009 Marineair reverse-cycle air conditioning system provides heating and cooling throughout. The Yanmar engine shows 1,974 hours as of May 2026. Dual 12-volt AGM batteries, a 30-amp charger, and shore power accommodate the electrical system. The boat includes two 1,500 GPH bilge pumps, fire extinguishers, life jackets, and safety gear.
