The Santa Cruz 52 is a 52-foot fiberglass sailing yacht built in 1996, designed by Bill Lee with speed and sailing performance as core priorities. The hull's distinctive slim profile and light displacement—half that of comparable cruising sailboats—create a platform equally suited to competitive racing and extended offshore cruising. The boat measures 14 feet in beam and is powered by a single diesel engine.
This particular example carries a strong racing record, including first in class at the Swiftsure race, second in class at the Cabo race, and second in class at the Transpac race with a fast-time record for the SC52 class in that event. The rigging was completed by Scott Easom of Easom Rigging in San Francisco. The design philosophy balances the attributes that make the boat competitive under sail with accommodations and systems suitable for extended cruising passages.
